Description
Bougainvillea Magenta brings a massive splash of bold color to your outdoor space. This fast-growing climbing vine is famous for its bright, paper-like bracts that look like flowers and cover the plant from spring through fall. It works perfectly for covering fences, walls, or trellises, but you can also grow it in large pots on a patio. Since it naturally climbs, it creates a lush, vertical wall of greenery and magenta.
This plant loves the heat and thrives in full sun. To get the best blooms, place it where it receives at least six to eight hours of direct sunlight every day. Once the plant settles into its new home, it becomes very drought-tolerant and needs little water. In fact, giving it too much water or fertilizer can stop it from blooming. It prefers soil that drains quickly so the roots stay healthy and dry.
The woody stems have sharp thorns, which make it a great natural screen for privacy or security. You can prune it regularly to keep it in a specific shape or size. Pruning after a bloom cycle also encourages the plant to grow new branches and produce even more color for the next round.
